An Adventurers Map
ROAM
Meet ROAM
A compact, family friendly GPS designed to keep everyone connected, even off the grid. With satellite tracking, real time maps, voice communication and instant SOS alerts, ROAM ensures every adventure stays safe, simple and within reach.
Because being lost should never mean being alone.
Phone maps don’t work when out in the wilderness for lack of cellular data, physical maps are outdated and easily damaged by harsh weather.
Satellite phones offer a satellite connection but are expensive, limited in features and not user friendly.
Hiking and camping can quickly turn stressful when navigation tools fail.
Visualizing through sketch and designing for the human body
Through iterative sketching, I explored forms that balanced nostalgia and modern usability, refining shapes until they felt both familiar and intuitive. Radar diagrams and user testing guided my decisions, helping me pinpoint the design choices that best matched user needs and emotional connection.
Making the form in the real world
ROAM was designed with human factors and the universal design principles at its core. Its compact, intuitive form adapts to different hand sizes, offers simple controls, and remains functional and safe in outdoor environments.

Safety outdoors isn’t just about hiking and camping, let’s make adventuring in all forms safer for everyone
ROAM is more than just a navigation tool, it’s a trusted companion that keeps you connected wherever your adventures lead. By blending nostalgic design with modern functionality, it turns moments of uncertainty into opportunities for discovery, ensuring every journey feels exciting while staying safe.
