Naranja Floreciente takes mass waste and turns it to something beautiful, by transforming Fish Leather, Orange Peel and Bronze into a refined and sustainable design we can reimagine how everyday objects can be made. Proving that innovation and beauty can exist within sustainability.

Orange Peel has the ability to be transformed into a wood like texture and makes use of a huge source of waste

Fish leather makes use of another large waste source while giving a wider range of colors and is stronger. It also provides more strength than most other leathers

Bronze is a recyclable metal along with having the ability to add a beautiful natural patina over time

Polycarbonate was chosen because it has a much longer life span than other translucent materials

Getting the right size and form was extremely important to make sure I could get the bronze casting right.

First was to turn the Orange peel into a workable material
Then I got to move on to cutting a sewing the Fish Leather to get the perfect band
To get the right casing for it I had to carve it out of wax for lost wax casting
Once it was baked I was able to cut and saw right through it to make the perfect shape for the watch face
You only get one shot while casting, because once the metal is poured it melts the wax
Now let’s create a world where all design works with the environment instead of against it
Designed with longevity and circularity in mind, Naranja Floreciente stands out as both an everyday object and a statement of environmental responsibility.
