Every year we lose around 25 billion trees, current reforestation efforts just can’t keep up.
The Focus and Aftercare of Formica
Formica focuses on quality of the plant over quantity, allowing for a more focused control over what is being planted and how long it can survive.
Along with focusing on studying the soil Formica is made to drop a specialized seed pod that holds the seeds along with nutrients for them to grow better.
The Formica-CL9 is designed to track where the seed pods are planted allowing it to autonomously fly back to check on the growth of each pod.
Formica works in swarms, allowing each drone to focus on different areas but with the same goal - saving our environment.

Finding the form took time and patience, it wasn’t just about finding one that looked interesting but designing a form that is aerodynamic while feeling friendly and inviting.
After finding the form I took it into Rhino and Keyshot to model and render
This is where I was able to start figuring out the right size for prototyping and the CMF of Formica.
